Jan Boshoff's Doctrines of Devils (text from YouTube video)

In one of my videos I said I would further expound on false doctrine of Jan Boshoff & Co., and this video is to that end.

Most so-called Christians, at least where I come from, believe that they can continue in their sin after being born again.  I have yet to meet anyone locally who agrees that holiness is the result, without which no man shall see the Lord.  However, I'm not surprised by the lack of true believers, as the Scriptures say the last days will be as the days of Noah... he was the ONLY righteous one in his day.

What I mostly see in the world are people who believe in what I call the Jesus Suit doctrine.  It's a belief that Christ's blood covers our sins, so that even though we continue sinning, God doesn't see it, because when he looks down on us, all he sees is Christ.  Now if you pin them down on it, of course they'll say that yes, we SHOULDN'T sin, but we do the best we can, and the difference between us and unbelievers is that God sees the intentions of our hearts and he knows we WANT to obey him, even though we sometimes fail.

But God's plan for his people is more powerful and thorough than just hiding our sin.  His plan DELIVERS us from sin.  Jesus said to BE holy, and BE perfect... he didn't say TRY to be holy and perfect.  Holiness is the evidence of the new birth.  But how do we receive it?  By BELIEF.  Belief in what?  That Jesus died to TAKE AWAY our sin, sins, and sinning.  When we repent, we change our minds about sinning altogether.  We are DONE with sin, and we love God so much that we would rather DIE than to ever sin against him again.  And when we want to obey him with ALL our heart, soul, and mind, Jesus makes us HOLY so that we can!

Jesus saves to the UTTERMOST.  His grace is a license to holiness... not a license to sin.

In my attempt to find like-minded believers, I went on YouTube and began typing "go and sin no more" and "holiness" in the search box.  The majority of videos I found regarding those subjects were by Jan Boshoff, also known as finallcall07.  I listened to some of his videos, and I was delighted!  Here was a man (and others in his group) who preached that we MUST be born again, without spot or blemish, and that sinlessness is possible.  Finally, I found someone who understood!  I was thrilled.

However, the more videos I watched, I realised that his messages weren't what they seemed to be on the surface.  What was even more disturbing was how subtly he twisted the Word, and the fact he has many people enslaved in fear because of his doctrine.

One reason he's able to do this is because Jan Boshoff has taught his followers to disregard the Holy Scriptures for doctrine.  This is very dangerous.  By telling others to toss them aside, Jan Boshoff has taken the first step in being able to establish his OWN doctrine.  He tells others they can only trust the Holy Spirit, and then tells them what the Holy Spirit told HIM.  It's the power of suggestion.  These people he's gathered under his wings trust him, and automatically believe his words, meanwhile not using the written Word as an aid to discern if what he's saying is indeed truth.  Another explanation for how cult members come into the same information independant from each other, is that there are MANY false christs in the world.  They are demonic spirits that can tell different people the same thing, and we are well-warned about doctrines of devils.

Many people claim to hear from the Holy Spirit, but there are many voices and deceptive spirits in the world.  How do we discern if it's the REAL Holy Spirit?  Because he won't contradict the Holy Scriptures.  Jesus said repeatedly, "It is written, it is written, it is written."  Jesus is the spoken AND written Word, which we find in the books of Moses, David, and the prophets.  Jesus confirmed these books when he spoke in the Gospels, and we know that he was faithful (unlike Allah) to preserve his entire New Covenant for us as well.  So you see, God, the Word, and the Holy Spirit will ALWAYS agree.  These three are one, and they cannot contradict each other.  So when I hear someone say the Holy Spirit told them something, and it's in direct OPPOSITION to the written Word, I know that person is hearing the voice of a stranger.

Like I said, I was first attracted to Jan Boshoff's videos because he preaches that we MUST be holy.  THIS IS TRUE.  But he preaches that we must constantly endure and strive against our sinful nature.  He likens the walk of a Christian as "the tightrope of holiness," meaning that we must focus on our tightrope, not looking to the left or the right, but just putting one foot in front of the other day by day until we die or Christ returns, lest we slip and fall into sin.

The problem is, this is the doctrine of will worship:

(Colossians 2:20-23)  "Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh."

Jan Boshoff says that holiness and obedience to God is "hard work," and something we must always "strive" to accomplish.  This is false.  When we become born again, Jesus gives us a NEW holy heart that naturally obeys him.

(Ezekiel 36:26-27)  "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Holiness and obedience are EFFORTLESS with the new birth.  Why?  Because the source of sin (the sin nature) as been REMOVED.  Saints strive against sin in the WORLD, not personal sin.  We don't have to constantly contend with our sin nature, because it has been CUT AWAY.

(Colossians 2:10-12)  "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also ye are CIRCUMCISED with the circumcision made without hands, in PUTTING OFF the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

(Romans 6:6-7)  "Knowing this, that our old man is CRUCIFIED with him, that the body of sin might be DESTROYED, that HENCEFORTH we should NOT serve sin.
For he that is dead is FREED from sin."

Our old man is CRUCIFIED -- past tense.  Crucified = DEAD, once and for all.  A dead man can't trouble us.  How could we freely work for the kingdom of God if we're constantly having to contend with ourselves, striving against our old man, and looking through tunnel vision lest something we see incites sin within us?  We can't.

(John 8:34-36)  "Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Jesus sets us free INDEED.  When we repent, and believe, we become holy funnels through which he pours out himself.  We don't "work hard" to be sinless... HE makes us sinless!  And He works IN US all good works.

(Hebrews 13:20-21)  "Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, WORKING IN YOU that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."

But Jan Boshoff has spent his entire time on YouTube preaching that we must endure until the end, endure until the end, endure, endure, endure.  And here is what has been revealed... Jan Boshoff ISN'T enduring.  And neither are others in his circle.  They have been found in sin, and they excuse it for each other.

Shortly after his conversation with me, Jan Boshoff made a video entitled "Don't be a hypocrite."  His message was an attempt to teach believers that we shouldn't judge other believers (which completely contradicts 1 Corinthians 5,6,7, among a slew of other scriptures).  His reasoning?  Because we all "come short of the glory of God" and we all "fall" and "stumble" in sin at times, but what counts is that we want to obey him.

So whatever happened to endurance?  What happened to complete and utter holiness and obedience to God?  What's the difference between what he's preaching, and what the Jesus Suit teachers preach?

They are one in the same.  The road is even more narrow than it originally seemed.  However, His burden is light, and His yoke is easy.

Jan Boshoff, Robert Lyte, John Williams, and Betsy Williams preach holiness, but they themselves AREN'T HOLY.  Why?  Because they have attempted holiness through their WILLPOWER.  And it has failed them.

Our effort can NOT add to Christ crucified.  He did it ALL on the cross.  When we're truly done with sin, the Lord is faithful to take our sin AWAY.  We don't have to live in fear of stumbling into sin, because our sin nature has been REMOVED, and the devil can't take us at his will any longer.  We enter into God's REST (Hebrews 4), and our loving and faithful Papa is perfectly able keep his children from falling.

(2 Corinthians 1:21-22)  "Now he which STABLISHETH us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts."

(Jude 1:24-25)  "Now unto him that is able to KEEP YOU FROM FALLING, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen."

Holiness and obedience are the mark of salvation... not a means to it.  We cannot make or keep ourselves holy through our effort.  And even if we could, what room would there be for Christ?  Our God is a jealous God, and he wants ALL the glory in our salvation.

He saves us.  We don't save ourselves.

What about 1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." ?

M Ariana,

The message Jan Boshoff and Co. preach is one of fear, strife, and bondage to sin. It's a message from which no one can be saved. They mix truth with lies, and in this post I separate the two.

Working out our salvation is not working FOR our salvation. I explain this verse in a video, if you'd like to take a look:

Anonymous,

1 John 1:8 is referring to those who deny the sinful nature, not those whom Christ has freed from sin. Here is a video for more on this subject:

Thanks for trying to clarify the difference between us trying to be holy and God keeping us from falling through faith. It's a stumbling block for many that trying to do Gods will by our own efforts. The fruits are evident for all to see. Galatians 5:17-26
